Federal grant gives NYCTA boost in security
NEW YORK (WABC) -- Heavily armed New York police units will start patrolling the subway today. They're the result of a federal security grant announced back in January.
Eyewitness New reporter Lisa Colagrossi has more on the story.
This force is very similar to the "hercules" team, only with a metrocard. Thanks to a massive federal transit grant New York City subways are going to get a boost in terms of security, trying to prevent terrorist attacks.
Commissioner Kelly will announce the deployments this morning.
