In order to maintain the content quality of the website and make it easier to manage, please follow the following guidelines.
- NEW – ARTICLES
General guidelines:
Please consider the type of article/video/image you plan to post carefully as this has a strong impact on how We Are Change is perceived to everyone. We are trying to focus on solution based articles. If you have to cover controversial topics, use discretion. This will prevent discussions and offending anyone from the wide range of people visiting the site.Don’t just post an image or a video. Write a description so readers can get an insight before watching the video as well as understand the idea and reason for the post. your article needs to have at least 50 words so that the excerpt will show up on the front page.Always include the source of your article:
In an article originally written by CNN for example, post the source at the top of the article in the following format:NEW YORK (CNN)
the name CNN should be a link to the actual article. This can be automatically done for you by using the Press this tool. You only have to replace the word SOURCE with the name of the source for example CNN.
Check that the article does not already exist on the site. This can be searched by typing keywords from the title in the search box since the article may be archived. Recent news can be checked as well.
Choose the title for your article carefully. Make sure it is descriptive and easy to understand for all readers
Avoid complex terms or abbreviations so that others not familiar with the terms can understand your message.
Try not to post very long articles. This will take too much room on the page and possibly deter people from reading it. Instead try to summarize and shorten the article as best you can.
Please add at least one category and at least one tag to every article to make sure it’s archived in the proper category and key words.
- FEATURED ARTICLES
Only mark very important articles with the featured category. Only Put featured articles on the Flash Slider.
- IMAGES
Preferably only use the form at the bottom of the post editor to upload images. This will automatically resize the image, place it in the article and make it appear on the front page list as well.
If you still need to manually add images to your article please follow the following technical specs:
The ideal width for an image on a post should be around 226 pixels in width and 170 in height slightly smaller is acceptable. The maximum should be no more than 450 pixels in width and 340 in height. If you have an image wider than 450px, remove the height html tag and set the width html tag to 450px. To maintain quality do not stretch original images. You can always make large images smaller as long as you constrain proportions but smaller images can not be enlarged. You can also use an image editor like GIMP to resize and retouch your images.
Also add a thumbnail in Custom Field (can be same or different smaller image from article image) to ad to the Featured Content time line on the Featured Content Gallery.
